Full steam ahead

Now that we have had our planning application approved – thankyou to everyone that supported us – we’re starting to build the sculpture!

We held a detailed briefing meeting yesterday at E C Harris‘ office on York Way. In two weeks time we should have the first AutoCAD 3D design completed ready for final checks by Alan Conisbee our wonderful Structural Engineer. After that, Barry at Benson Sedgwick will work with Neil our artist to build it off-site and Jamie at the Micropiling Group will install the foundations for us.

Installation¬†should be interesting – we’re busy planning how to get all the components to Wharfdale Road without having to ask for a road closure. It’s highly unlikely we’d be able to get Wharfdale Road closed even for one day!

John Ashwell is putting finishing touches to lighting and irrigation design, Marie Clarke is iching to get the plants purchased and in.

Now all we have to do is find an extra ¬£4k for new groundworks, help! Exciting times…
